NYLD 2013

NYLD this year was a really good day, I enjoyed myself and I learn lots of new things about what leadership is. My favorite speaker of they day out of all 6 was Cam Calkoen. He was my favorite because he didn't let his disability Cerebral Palsy stop him from doing thing  he wanted to achieve. His mum and dad were told that he wouldn't  be able to look after himself and he can or ride a bike but he did because he wanted to . Today he has achieved his dreams and is helping others achieve their dreams too, Cam has also represent New Zealand in the 100m's and 200m's running races. He has over come his big fear of specking  in public but do you know what that's his job today specking to others and motivating them to achieve their dreams. One thing that he said that will allays stay with me is " Dream big. Achieve more " .  Cam is one the coolest people every. One thing he loves the most is the word Awesome.  Superpowers are what Dave Atkinson talked about and they are Laughter, Leadership, Kindness and Smarts. I think mine is Kindness because I love helping people, when they need it and helping other with their learning and learning for others as well.

JRock 2013

JRock 2013 

This year our school is taking part in the ASB JRock for kids. JRock is when you act out a story, without using words by dancing to music. This year our one is called Time Changes. It's about all the new things that have been created over the years like the light bulb, phones and mobile phones, TVs, Cars and other things. I am a light bulb, we are the people who start the show and finish each seen. We have all been learning our dances and working very hard. Everyone who is part of JRock has to do practices at lunch times and morning tea, but it's all wroth the hard work that leads up to the big night.

My reading role for week 1 and 2

This term for reading we are reading running wild by  Michael Morpurgo . This is my reading role for this week I was the creator and I made a presentation of my favourite paragraph in the first 2  This part really made my feel like I was their with Will then boy in the book chapters.This is my creator.

Friday Test

For this weeks friday test I got 25/25. A Friday test is made up of questions  from this weeks MDR. We do a friday test each week to sum up the end of the week. Getting 25/25 is a really good achievement for me because maths isn't my strong point at school.

MDR 20/20

 For the first day of this terms MDR I got 20/20 for Monday. I'm really happy with myself because that means, if I keep getting good scores like 20's, 19's and 18's  I will go up to the next book, which will be book 7 the highest one you can be on.

Blogging Milestone

Blogging 
This week I got my blogging milestone,  which is a milestone that you get by keeping your blog up to date. To get your blogging milestone you have to meet the criteria stand. What you have to have on your blog is videos,  lots of learning posts, family and friends comments on it, your weekly reflections up to date, some pictures and a Speak Pipe( witch is a tool on the side, that people can send voice messages to you). I'm very happy that I got my blogging milestone, I think my blog is really good.

Reading Club Role

This is my reading role for this week. I was the Creator that is the person how creates something out of our book we are reading, it can be anything you could back a cake or build something. I made a presentation of some of the characters in the book sheep on the fourth floor.

MDR 20/20

                                                                  Maths 

This Week for MDR I got 20/20. MDR Stands for Maths Daily revision, we do one each day. Their are different leveled books, I'm on book 6.Each question is different, Sometimes we have the same questions that week. On Friday we do a Friday witch is all the questions, put together from that Week.I really like doing MDR it is a good way to keep your brain refresh with maths.                        

PE Term 1

This Term we started PE with Mrs Taaffe. We do it 2 times a week, Mrs Taaffe put us into to groups. We do lots of different activities like planking, star jumps, shuttle run, press ups and lots more. We do this to keep us fit and healthy. We will do the same thing for PE next term too. 
 I really enjoy doing the star jumps and shuttle run too.The one I find most challenging was planking because it's my strongest thing.

This is my writing club writing for this week, it is a fairy tale.

In a faraway land in the middle of nowhere there was a village called Corona, where a Queen and the Queen’s daughter, Sophia lived.

Princess Sophia had glowing blonde hair and dark blue eyes. Queen Esmeraldas had short brown hair, light brown eyes.  They both always wore fine clothes with silk lace imported from Spain. The lived in a white palace on the top of the Corone hill. Now let the story begin...

One fine morning Princess Sophia and Queen Esmeraldas set out in their golden carriage, to the village of Corona.  On their way through the forest Queen  Emeraldas said, “I forbid  you to talk or even wave at the ungrateful people of our village,”  Sophia’s face sank.  “But...”

“No buts, Sophia,  you heard me”,

“Yes mother,” she said sadly. She felt lonely because she never got to have a friend or any friends growing up.

When they reached the village. Her mother turned and looked at Sophia, her eyes flaring, and her eyebrows scrunched. Sophia just looked away.

“I present Queen  Emeraldas of Corona, ” said a little man, everyone clapped with joy but, while everyone was fussing over Mrs Queen, Mia and her Mama were sewing away in their little shop and Sophia sat in the carriage crying.

Soon after arriving at the village the people started asking where Princess Sophia was, the Queen lied and said that she was at home and she come to the village, so she could get her lace dress from the little sewing shop . Queen Emeraldas  got her lace dress  from the shop, soon after she got her dress Queen Emeralda rode off in her golden carriage, home to her  Palace. Without saying goodbye to the village people. Esmeralda checked the lace dress in the big brown bag. Sophia asked,  “ What’s in the bag mother?” Her mother didn’t answer, Sophia just sat there wondering what it could be.

When they reached the Palace, Sophia jumped out of the carriage and ran to her room at the top of the palace. As she run up the steps Sophia remember that she didn’t get her tea, so she went back down the steps and had her tea. When she reached the door she  tugged it open. She walked  slowly to her dressing table and got out her pink silk nighty,she walked  slowly to her big bed, fit  for a king.

The next morning Sophia went to fetch the mail out of the golden mailbox at the front of the palace.In the mailbox was a gold envolope with their names on the front. Sophia ran inside to see her mother in the kitchen.” We are invited to the village bomb fire in the centre of the village, can we go? ” said Sophia.

“No, we can’t go to the silly bomb fire!” said queen Emeraldas. “We don’t have time for them!”

As she made her way up to her room, she had an idea that she would go to the bomb fire even if  her mother wasn’t going.

Sophia went up to her room to see what dazzling dresses she had to wear,  when she opened the door wardrobe , it was bare; there wasn’t one bit of clothing in the wardrobe. Sophia was stumped as to where they would have gone.  Sophia went down to ask her mother if she knew where they were, but she had gone to see the King of Spain for the day.

So Sophia went into the village to the little sewing shop.  When she arrived she asked if she could have a dress made with lace, that she could wear to the bomb fire gathering tonight. Mia’s Mama was so happy to hear that she was coming to the bomb fire gathering.  “Mia could you show princess Sophia around the village while I make her dress.”

Sophia and Mia walked around the small village where everyone was hard at work.Sophia felt bad for all the village people because all they did was work and work. Soon after walking round the village Mia’s Mama called out to them. They made their way slowly to the  little shop.

The dress fitted Sophia, it was made out of a fine pink lace, ( the best you could get).  Sophia was grateful that Mia’s Mama had done for her, and she loved the dress so much.Sophia looked at the little clock on the wall,  it was time for her to head back to the palace before her mother got home from Spain.

Sophia got home just in time. She ran inside and sat on the bottom step waiting for her mother to come in. Queen  Emeraldas came in through the front door and went up to her room. Sophie followed her to her room and wait for a few minutes until she drifted off to sleep. Queen Esmeralda fell asleep very fast , ( She must have been very tired).  Sophia went up to her room and got ready for the bomb fire gathering.

Sophia made her way down the steps to the front door.When she walked outside her ride was waiting for her. Off Sophia went in her little white carriage to the boom fire. It was very dark outside, Sophia had no clue where she was. But the driver did.

When Sophia arrived everyone was having some fun dancing and sing.When Sophia hopped out of her carriage everyone turned and looked at her in her lace dress. Sophia sat down on log by herself, Mia walked over to her slowly.

Mia asked Sophia  If she wanted to dance, Sophia said yes please.

Sophia was having a good time until ...... Queen  Emeraldas showed up and saw Sophia dancing around with the ungrateful people, she was mad. Sophia asked her mother what was she doing here. Queen  Emeraldas said  

“Coming to save you!”

“From what?” said Sophia, “They are no different for us mother we are all the same.  I think we should let them come to the palace and see what we live like.” Queen  Emeraldas didn't  answer.  Then Queen Esmeralda said,  “ I’m sorry for making you work and work all the time, you can all come to the Palace for lunch tomorrow.

The next day they all had a big feast at the palace and live happily ever after.

Camp 2013

This year in March we went on camp to one of  Taupo's 10 ten holiday park.I really enjoyed camp this year, I learn so many new things .I over came my fear of height's  on the trapeze at Acton world . well done me! We had to make a skit in our Cabins but most of us joined .I  liked our skit it was so fun to make and perform our skits to the camp.My favorite things were the indoor Rock climbing, rafting and fish and learning about prawns at  prawn  park.This years camp was so much fun,But sadly it's my lasted at Ngatea primary.

HP Swimming

On Monday was HP swimming sports at the Ngatea swimming pools, it was so hot . All different people were their from age 8 to 13. I was in 3 races out of all the events, I was in 1 length freestyle, 1 length breaststroke  and 2 lengths  breaststroke .It was a good day for me I one 4th and 2 6th's.Ngatea won most of the relays.It was a fun day

NPS swimming sports

On Monday our school had our swimming sports for 8 year old and up. We have to dress up in our house colours, they are yellow for Patiki, red for Kapui, green for weka and blue for Orewa. I'm in Patiki. It was a fun but long day I Participated in every event I could that day, I got some placings for my races. I was in the relay for my house  we got 2nd.

What I want to work on 2013

what I want to work on is my maths and not compare myself to my friends. I also want to trying my best and not rushing my maths work.

What I'm looking forward to in 2013

What I'm looking  forward too is going on Camp in Toupo and trying new thing while I'm their.My other one is going to young leaders day and hearing all the inspiration speakers  and their story's too.I'm really looking forward to all the year 8 things like Rainbow end, the year 8 water fight and the year 8 dinner.

Summer Highlight

My Summer Highlight going to camp Whakamaru in the holidays with friends, when we first get their we set up all our thing like tents and set up our kitchen and eating area and then the fun begins  .It was cool because we didn't have a bed time and we got to buscuiting  every day we were their and we could eat when ever we wanted too.I  learn how to nee board,  i'ts really fun I was the only one who could do it on my first go out of Macy, Josh, Mum and I.We got to have a go on every biscuit their was and they are The big Mable, the lost untie, the banana boat and the single one, my favorite. My favorite part of camping was going on The big Mable with Brooke and my really fast and learning how to nee board.

My Term 4 Evaluation

What I have really enjoyed this year was, having a cool class that is all different in their own ways and making new friends within my class.
Something I need to improve on is,  My maths so that I can get to where I need to be, so I can get their next year.
What I new you tried this year was, Finding out how to manage work from 3 class and getting them done by deadline set by the teachers.
A challenge for me this year was,Facing my fear on camp (Heights)by jumping off a cage on 15m high poll, after the 4th try.
Something I was  proud of achieving this year was,My cartoon art that I did of minnie mouse that was fun do paper mache but on to draw it.
I hope to achieve in my final year at NPS, too Have achieve all of of my millstones or just some to finish of my year at NPS.

Weekly Reflection Week 8

This week I enjoyed getting my art dome of Minnie mouse  for the wall in the hall and getting 20/20 in my MDR for the first time ever.

My Term 4 Art

This is my art from term 4 Minnie Mouse. I choose Minnie Mouse because she is cute and I want something not to easy to draw.

N-Rock

A plus was that it all went and everyone was there on the night.A minus is that people were talking when they were meant to be silent the whole time we were backstage.An interesting thing was seeing the other class N-Rock because the were all different.I enjoyed performing to the adult  and having lights on us went performing. I wouldn't change anything about the dances.
